Waihī Beach Lifeguard Services Inc. has been keeping beachgoers safe for over 90 years. Our volunteer surf lifeguards patrol from October to March, with three patrolled locations during the peak summer season – the Main Beach (North End), Island View, and Bowentown – and a 24/7 Search and Rescue squad ready to respond year-round. We’re proud to help locals and visitors enjoy our beautiful region, and encourage everyone to swim between the flags. Our Junior Surf programme runs November to February and teaches surf safety and skills to tamariki who love the beach, while The Deck Kitchen and Bar serves up coffee, kai and the best views in town on summer weekends. During January we host a number of community events from the New Year’s Day Beach Sports to the fun run, sand art competition and Orokawa to main beach swim. Whether you’re visiting for the day or part of our local whānau, we’re here to help you enjoy Waihī Beach safely.
